The Yale Undergraduate Piano Collective (YUPC) was founded in Spring 2017 by Rishi Mirchandani M.C. '19. The mission of the collective is to create a sense of community among undergraduate pianists at Yale. To this end, YUPC organizes a variety of events, including the following.
- “Studio Classes” — Informal get-togethers where pianists play pieces of their choice for one another to practice performing and to receive feedback from each other
- Duets & Donuts — Nighttime sight-reading parties with a focus on repertoire written for multiple pianists and an equally strong focus on donuts
- Masterclasses — Opportunities for undergraduates to perform for and learn from concert pianists in a public setting
- Public performances — Group recitals with an emphasis on exploring the collaborative repertoire for four, six, and eight hands
